Event:
Archaeology Hike at Red Rock State Park

Date: April 21, 2019

Time: Starting time 1:00pm

Event Description:
Red Rock State Park area has been a visiting location for
Native Americans for several millennia.
Some of the features found in the park are from
the Sinagua culture dating back to about 1100 to 1425 AD.
You can learn the story of the pre-Columbian
people who lived and traveled in and near the park.
The hike will show various archaeological features
that are visible from park trails and explain them into a
wider understanding of the important area Sinagua sites.

The guide will also touch on ideas of other cultures
that likely have made use of the park’s resources.
The hike will last about 1½ – 2 hours, with an
elevation gain of some 250 feet.
The hike will be along easy to moderate trails
and may begin with a short presentation in the theater.

Park hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Cost/Admission:
Hike is included with park entrance fees:
$7.00 ages 14 and up
$4.00 ages 7 – 13
Free for ages 6 and under

Event: Let’s Get Fit…Walk

Date: April 23, 2019 – Tuesday
Time: 4:00pm to 5:00pm

Event Description:
This is a power walk that is
scheduled for April 23, 2019

on Tuesday at 4:00 pm and ends at 5:00pm.
The walk begins with stretching and
then is led by a personal trainer.

Next, the walkers go up Jordan Rd.,
taking some side streets and
ending up at the Jordan Trail Head,
and then return to the starting point.

Those participating in the walk
will complete around 3 to 4 miles.

Event: Earth Day and Arbor Day Celebration –
This is a Red Rock State Park Special Event

Date: April 27, 2019

Times: From 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Event Description:
Come and celebrate Earth Day 2019 at
Red Rock State Park on Saturday,

This family-friendly event will feature games,
guided hikes, special presentations,

crafts for kids, and environmental education
exhibits and activities. Presentations

include special guests Oak Creek Watershed Council,
Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary and the International
Raptor and Falconry Center.
Spend the day learning more about our
natural environment and enjoying the
beauty of the park. There will be special
guest booths from Astronomers of
Verde Valley for a solar viewing.

Event:
Tlaquepaque Celebrates Cinco de Mayo

Date: May 4, 2019 – Saturday

Times: 11:00am to 5:00pm

Description of Celebration:
This Cinco de Mayo event
on May 4, 2019 from 11:00am – 5:00pm,
celebrates a Mexican victory
at the battle of Puebla over the French.
It has become a symbol of Mexican Independence.

Come and let your family & friends can experience
a colorful annual Fiesta at Tlaquepaque.
Enjoy the lively music of mariachi musicians
and the artistic steps of Folklorico dancers.
There will also be traditional Mexican food
to taste and enjoy.

For Transportation: There is a free trolley service
from the Sedona Municipal
parking lot at
260 Schnebly Road to Tlaquepaque.

Event: 4th of July Wet Fest

Dates: July 4, 2019 – Thursday

Times: 12:00 noon – 4:00 p.m.

Event Description:
You and you family are invited to spend your day at our
Wet Fest and still have time to drive to your fireworks
show at night.
There will be lunch choices and music.
Enjoy a swimming pool and water slide fun.
This event is free of charge (food not included).
The pool opens at 12 p.m. for a free recreation swim.
Outside of the pool gate will be vendors and fun water games.

Parking is available in the West Sedona School parking lots.

Event: Red Rocks Oktoberfest –
7th Annual Craft Beer Festival

This event is produced by and benefits The Rotary Club of Sedona Red Rocks, a local charitable organization whose purpose is to demonstrate “Service Above Self.” Oktoberfest will support many local causes and will benefit the Rotary Club of Sedona Red Rocks and our efforts within the community.
